Google itself redirects on Firefox only
When I type google.com into the address bar I get redirected to webshots.com which shows a custom 404, the google.com address is still in the address bar; I'm then redirected to the webshots.com home page and a username/password dialog box opens with this message: The proxy moz-proxy://41.190.16.17:8080 is requesting a username and password. The site says: "moz-proxy://41.190.16.17:8080"
This is does not happen in IE.
I am certain I got this virus by using a proxy server in Firefox. My Time Warner cable doesn't require a proxy, I was just messing around learning about proxy servers by entering the IPs manually and checking websites to see if they worked.
If I have to install all kinds of virus scanners that might not even fix the problem I may as well just use IE or Chrome after I format my HD and reinstall Windows.
Please help.

Did you check the connection settings in Firefox?
- Tools > Options > Advanced : Network : Connection > Settings

Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.
You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.
