Thunderbird; The reverse order email client.
Can anyone provide any help or insight as to why Thunderbird is sooooo determined to show me all of my 10 year old emails first? I have followed the documentation to change the order of emails shown but its still puts emails from 2013 right there at the top. Additionally, can anyone provide any insight as to why, and I do mean WHY, folks who are sharp enough to code an email client for commercial release are simultaneously so dull that they don't realize that setting the out of the box default sort settings of that email client to show oldest emails first is a misguided choice at best.
Thanks,
Mario

Hi David, Thank you for your reply. I tried your solution but there is no DATE button or item showing and I am in table view. I hate to say it but Thunderbird is a wonky and buggy email client that needs a lot of development. I was hoping to find something to manage my mail on a Windows machine at work but to paraphrase: "This chit aint it!" For now I'll keep lugging my Macbook around since it has Einstein Mail on it which is an email client that wasn't programmed by monkeys. I am going to mark this as solved, as my short time with the bird is over. I have already plucked and feathered it, shoved a stick of butter up its bum and sent it to the oven.
Thanks Again
Mario

If your message list pane is in 'table view' (one line per email), just click the DATE item on menu bar to change sort order. If you see more than one line per message, click the icon to the right of "Quick Filter" just above the message list pane and select 'table view' as you can then change sort order. On your other comment, remember that 'smart' doesn't mean 'wise.' :)

Well, I feel you are abandoning Thunderbird because two items weren't quickly resolved. The attached screenshot shows the Date item on the menu bar and the icon to the right specifies what entries appear on that menu bar. Knowing that one item addressed your expressed concerns. Anyway, I won't pretend that Thunderbird is for everyone.
