Split tunneling option on Linux not available
According to this KB article and this Github Issue the 'App permission' feature should work on Linux but I can't find the option anywhere.
Running Ubuntu 20.04.1 LTS and Mozilla VPN 2.5.0 (2.202109111820)

Hey there,
The split tunneling function should appear on your Linux machine, here are the instructions on how to access to it on both versions 2.4 and 2.5 of Mozilla VPN: Make sure the VPN is toggled off during this process.
Version 2.4.0 - 2.4.1 - Open Mozilla VPN > Settings (gear icon at the top-right side of the app) > App Permissions.
Version 2.5.0 - Open Mozilla VPN > Settings > Network Settings > App Permissions.
I'd recommend updating the app to make sure there are no errors along the way.
Hope this helps.
Regards,
Thanks for your reply!
I have followed all your advice. App is latest version (mozillavpn is already the newest version (2.5.0-focal1).) VPN turned off.
But the option is just not there!
Please see all screens in the attached images. Works on my Android phone though.
Hey there,
After looking up to this screenshots, I can assure you this is a recently found issue for Linux machines. Our engineering team is looking up to this issue so we can solve it as soon as possible. The gist of the problem is that split tunneling is only supported if the following two conditions are met:
1. Control groups version 1 is mounted somewhere (should be the case for any Debian-based distro). 2. The user is running a desktop environment based on GTK (GIMP Tool Kit). This should include Gnome, Unity, MATE and Cinnamon.
If you have any questions, please let me know. For the moment, stay tuned for any patches or updates to solve this issue.
Best,
I have the same issue on my POP_OS 20.10 laptop (see attached). Curiously, my desktop, which is on Mint 20.1, does show the app selections and they work beautifully. Both are running Cinnamon (4.6.7 on the laptop, not at the desktop at the moment so I can't check that one).
Why does this only work on GTK desktops? What do you need to make it work on KDE?
