I am using Firefox 90.0.2 on a Dell laptop. When I run a report from the software Workday, and choose to download it, the "What should Firefox do with this file" always comes up, despite the fact that I have the "Do this automatically for files like this from now on" option box checked. I also have gone to the place in Settings where you identify what application to open with different file types. I have identified Excel for Microsoft Excel Worksheets, and Adobe Acrobat for .pdf files.

It is very annoying that the box comes up every time. I'd appreciate any suggestions. Thank you!

"Do this automatically for files like this from now on" is not connected to a specific file extension, but is about the action for a specific MIME (content) type and only works properly if the server sends this file with a valid MIME type for this file extension.
