Hi wgoostree, sorry to hear something went wrong in building your new profile folder from your old one. Obviously that's not what normally happens.
Did Firefox place your old profile folder on your desktop inside an Old Firefox Data folder? That is where we would suggest recovering data from (please only copy/paste, don't move files in case you need to refer to those files again in the future).
This article can help with identifying useful files: Recovering important data from an old profile.
This article can help you identify your currently live profile folder: Profiles - Where Firefox stores your bookmarks, passwords and other user data.
If you don't have an Old Firefox Data folder, the Refresh might have stalled or died part of the way through. In that case we'll have to guide you to find the current location of your old profile folder.
