Thunderbird inbox emails dispearing

Hi all

This has happened multiple times since adopting Thunderbird as my email server. All of a sudden my inbox clears itself and all my inbox (and sender and trash) emails are cleared. I regularly transfer emails to local folders - so they are all still there. But at any one time I may have 30 or so emails in my inbox to respond to. So yesterday they all disappeared AGAIN :)

I have followed online forum instructions to: Right click on mail account name in Folder Pane and select 'Settings' If pop select 'Disc Space' If Imap select 'Synchronisation & storage' select 'Don't delete any messages' click on 'OK' Right click on Inbox folder and select 'Properties' click on 'Retention Policy' tab make sure it says 'Use my account settings' click on 'General Information' tab Check to see if folder index is out of synch with actual storage, click on 'Repair folder' button click on 'OK'

Emails did not return after the repair and my settings were already set on 'don't delete'.

When i search Finder (i have a Mac and OS Mojave 10:14) for my Thunderbird profile - the only Thunderbird that comes up is the app itself and when i click on it it opens the server.

I am weary from having to ask people to resend me those emails I can remember were in my inbox and explain to all correspondents that, yet again, I've lost all my inbox emails. It's even more confounding when all the sent items are gone too.

How can I recover my emails and stop this from happening again? Hope someone can assist - many thx :)
