When I click and hold on the compass icon I am asked to "force quit". I cannot launch Safari and before I downloaded Firefox I could. I only downloaded firefox because I registered for classes at a community college and they said to use Firefox and not Safari. I would like to dump firefox now.

Note: Windows users should download the ActiveX for Internet Explorer. and the plugin for Plugin-based browsers (like Firefox).

Note: Windows 8 and Windows 10 have built-in flash players and Adobe will cause a conflict. Install the plugin only. Not the ActiveX.

Safari and Firefox are separate programs. One should not affect the other. What happens when you try Safari? Error messages? How do you launch Safari? When you installed Firefox, was it declared the default browser?

Solved the problem by using the power button at the back of the Mac. When powered up again, everything was fine.
