Can't open messages

I updated Thunderbird when prompted this morning. (It was working fine before.) Now it will download messages, they show up as unread in my inbox, but they only say "forward this conversation - print this conversation" in the message box. Above that on the left, it says "loading..." and has been stuck that way for quite some time. Neither the message preview nor opening the message in a new tab works. It's just blank except for that text. I've tried multiple messages, I've tried restarting Thunderbird, then I tried restarting my computer... still not working. (Running on Windows 7)

Thanks! Safe mode helped me identify that it was an extension (conversations) that I needed to disable and reinstall. It's working now! (Though I can't say I love the changes to that add-on. meh.)
