every time i download something, sometime my battery dies and my download is canceled, is there a way when i restart my loptop,can my download unpause?
when i restart it, it doe unpause but, but!, it says download failed, ai have been trying to get a big file for almost a year now.

Can't you leave that laptop plugged in when downloading files?
Ability to resume support depends on the download server (and not really on Firefox).
If you download files from a permanent link, resume support works most of the time. If you download files from a temporary/generated link, it is common that you cannot pause and resume it.
For example, if you download Firefox from the link below, you can pause and unpause it as you wish. https://download-installer.cdn.mozill.../Firefox%20Setup%2040.0.2.exe
If you have a direct download link, you can consider to use an add-on like DownThemAll!. This add-on better manages downloads by downloading several parts of the file at the same time when it is possible.
