If I don't input the password I can't open the thurderbird, so the method as follow does not work.

1 Choose Tools -> Error Console
  2 Paste the expression
  3 openDialog("chrome://pippki/content/resetpassword.xul")
  4 Press the Evaluate button.
5 Accept when prompted with the confirmation dialog box.

I can't open the Thurderbird if I don't input the right passord, So I can't choose Tools and so on.

Chosen solution

As stated above, if you hit cancel a few times when asked for a master password you will get past the password prompt.

Reinstalling the OS would be kind of a dramatic response to this issue and would probably not fix it either.

Hitting Cancel several times will get you past a Master Password.

The only password in Thunderbird is the Master password that protects your saved email account passwords. If that is what you are talking about here are the instructions for that. Towards the bottom of the page is how to reset a forgotten master password.

If you are talking about your email password you have to reset that with your email provider. Go to their web mail or email help page and look for a link to reset your password.

I'm not talking email password. I set the Master Password cancer then close the Thurderbird.

I think except reinstall os, there is no way to solve this problem.

If I don't reinstall OS, I must never use Thurderbird.

http://kb.mozillazine.org/Master_password I read it carefully, then I find the answer. There is a known bug that sometimes occurs when updating from 2.0.0.24 to Thunderbird 3.* that causes Thunderbird to think you set a master password even though you never created one. If this happens, try resetting the master password as explained above. If that doesn't work exit Thunderbird and delete the key3.db file in your profile. 1.Open the Windows Start menu 2.In the the "Start Search" box, type in %APPDATA% [1] 3.Click the "Roaming" item that appears on the menu. 4.In the Windows Explorer window that opens, choose Thunderbird → Profiles. Each folder in this folder is a profile on your computer.
