TB won't migrate seamonkey e-mail files stored on an alternate drive.
Tb migrates all the user settings, Isp, etc... but won't open the inbox, sent files that are stored on a different drive. It creates a new inbox, sent file, etc. When I copy the files back into the folder from a safe location, it overwrites the index file.
When I first open TB after the file copy, the inbox e-mails show up for a few seconds, but then are replaced by an empty inbox.

Tools menu (ALt+T) > account settings > server settings
Locate the local directory entry down the bottom and browser you your alternative location. Then select the folder. I assume an almost identical operation was required in Seamonkey to set it in the first place
Changing the local directory in IS the problem. I already have inbox/send files there. TB OVERWRITES the originals, instead of using them. Am I doing something wrong? This is a re-install of TB. It worked the last time.
How do I get TB to simply open (or import) the original inbox/send files?
Is this an IMAP account? Then you'll first need to import the Seamonkey mail files into your 'Local Folders' account. Use this add-on for importing.

Note, mail files are mbox files.
You can then upload the messages to the IMAP server via 'Copy To' or 'Move To'.
Point it to the location, let it create its files close thunderbird. copy your files in open Thunderbird and it should all be right.
Yes, an Imap account. Where is copy to or move to found? this is pretty confusing, migrating from seamonkey.
Can I now leave the files on the imap server, for access from anywhere? Can I store the address book on the server also?

What are you talking about the index file all the time for. Do you have mail in the folder or not? The index files can be deleted without any issues at all and they will be recreated.
