Hi,

I have just started recently having this problem where some websites that i visit will not load correctly. Facebook for example will eventually load but just shows up as text. This happens in both firefox and chrome but in IE there are no problems. Any idea what this might be?

Thanks Steve

It looks that you are blocking CSS files from the server.

Did you check your security software (firewall, anti-virus) to make sure that it isn't blocking any files as it happens in other browsers as well?

Boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.

You can check the Network tab in the Web Console (Firefox/Tools > Web Developer) to see what content is blocked (i.e. shows size = 0).

Hi cor-el,

I tried booting the computer in safe mode with networking like you suggested but had the same problem.

I also opened the web console to see what it said and it came up with the following (see attached)

So it looks that a lot of files are missing and can't be downloaded.

Does it help if you boo the computer in Safe Mode in case software is blocking content?

You may have to clear or bypass the cache in case files are corrupted.

You can reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.

  • Hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
  • Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
  • Press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)

Clear the cache and cookies only from websites that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

  • Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
