How do I keep my browser from crashing every time I use mozilla's add-on "Download Helper"?
I've added the add-on "download helper" to my Mozilla Firefox browser, Mac OS X (Version 10.6.8), years ago and it's been doing its job of downloading from YouTube.com and performing well. However, for the past year or so, recently the browser crashes/freezes/doesn't respond every time I initiate a video download with the add-on. (The download window pops up, tries to start the download then freezes/crashes.) When this happens, I am reluctantly forced to close/quit the application every time without the download completing.
What could be the possible reason for this problem to occur ever time I use the add-on? Is there any simple way I can fix the problem so I can continue to use the add-on freely without any problems? Is there any way to prevent this problem from recurring in the future?
Any advice on the matter would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Mozilla Firefox Version = 18.0.2 Download Helper Version = 4.9.12

Download helper is not developed or maintained by Firefox. Please contact it's developers and in the meantime disable it or find an alternative.
You may have a problem with the folder that the DH extension uses to save the files to.
You can try to set a different download folder via the preferences of the extension.
