When my bookmarks opens up and I go to a sub category, they open on the right side of the page and I would like to have them open on the left side of the page. Also there is a wide gap between the subject and the arrow for sub categories, like about eight inches across the page. Can they be brought closer together as sometimes when I move the arrow all the way across to the triangle that pops out the sub category it shifts to a different sub category. Thanks for your help.

That did shorten the width of the page but it didn't help me in figuring out how to make the secondary subject open on the left side and not on the right as it is doing now. It did this when Fire Fox updated itself. Thanks for the initial information though as that part worked. Aloha

That can be caused by having some bookmarks with a long title in the main Bookmarks menu.
The width of a column in the Bookmarks menu list is in current Firefox versions automatically adjusted to fit the bookmark with the longest name.
You can check the names of the bookmarks and make the longer ones shorter.
