I powered down and restarted approximately 3 hours ago. The current page fault count, according to the Task Manager, is 36,800,000 and increasing at the rate of 3,000 page faults per second. When Firefox is closed, there are no additional page faults generated. There are no new page faults generated with Internet Explorer.

Do you have that problem when running in the Firefox SafeMode?

Don't select anything right now, just use "Continue in SafeMode."

If not, see this:

Such a page fault only means that Windows loads some memory pages from the page file on your hard drive.

How much memory do you have installed and how much is Firefox currently using?
You can open the about:memory page via the location bar to see the memory usage of Firefox.

Yes, I do. However, I have been told that the problem may have to do with system instability rather than directly related to Firefox. Specifically, when I use the Processes page of the Task Manager and choose "Show processes from all users", I find that the number of page faults for the process with the Image Name "System" and the Description "NT Kernel & System" grow at an extremely high rate. I recognize that this issue is beyond the scope of this help site, but if there is a recommendation of a site that might have solutions to these kinds of issues, I would appreciate hearing it.
