Today, I received a spam email that claimed to be one of my contacts, but the email address was obviously wrong. I think it's highly dangerous that Thunderbird shows me that the mail comes from my known contact, and only shows me the actual address when opening it.

1.) Is there any setting that I can change? 2.) Is there any meta-data that Thunderbird thinks this email actually came from my contact or does it "only" scan the end of the mail for a name? In both cases, the current behavior is highly dangerous in my opinion.

Thanks in advance!

Was it actually labelled 'spam' or 'junk'? TB labels messages as Junk if you use TB's Junk controls, but if it's spam, that was marked by a 3rd-party app or your mail provider, before it reaches TB. If that's the case, whitelist or unblock the contact in webmail, possibly by adding them to webmail contacts.
