Working with mails from sent mail folder of an IMAP account proves to be real pain in the a... For example, trying to forward mail I sent two days ago proved to be impossible with TB. Mail has attachment to it (6 MB), and this seems to be the issue - basically trying to get content from the server is actually the problem (time out may be). May be this is part of a larger issue - from time to time I receive error message - cannot write in the sent folder, do you want to try again? Unfortunately trying again actually sends the whole mail again - effectively doubling the mail sent, instead of just trying to write in the sent folder. It is not a problem of server quota (I keep server space usage to less than 50%). Please advise - what to ask from the mail admin? I solved the issue with forwarding from the web interface of the mail server - no problem there.

Windows safe mode disables anti-virus software, which is most likely the culprit.

Create an exception in your anti-virus software for the Thunderbird profile folder, so that the anti-virus real-time scanner will not scan it. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Thunderbird

Don't let your anti-virus software scan incoming and outgoing messages.

Don't let your anti-virus software scan attachments.

Don't let your anti-virus software intercept your secure connection to the server.

Remove any add-ons your anti-virus software may have installed in Thunderbird.

Do you have a slow and unreliable Internet connection? Is the IMAP sever slow?

This is the way the IMAP protocol works.

Do not seem to be connection problem - only manifests during trying to forward from sent folder. Forwarding from inbox works just fine. How to estimate the speed of the IMAP server? All other operations are trouble free, and using other mail client for that particular operation is also without any problem. Hence my suspicion on TB mail client.

Yes, safe mode does the trick. - win safe, TB safe - OK. - Win norm, TB safe - same issue, not OK. - win safe, TB norm - OK. Apparently something in the win environment is to blame, any suggestions?
