I have auto update disabled, but FF downloaded (or enabled download) eme-adobe.dll with no notice and no logging. Unacceptable.
My understanding is that a recent version of FF set up an auto update daemon that today downloaded and installed the above software to enable viewing protected content in FF. The only way I found out was a Norton message that it is safe. it does not appear in the update log (via advanced options). I have auto update turned off, and I expect this setting to be honored or at least to be clearly notified before accepting the FF version that contains this "feature." My concern is not limited to this adobe software, which may very well be beneficial. Rather, I wish to control the software contents of my PC. That's one reason why I use FF to begin with. It seems obvious that such a lapse works against mozilla's best interest, since people depend on mozilla to protect their security and privacy, and this lapse has reduced my level of trust. In additions, computers under change control requirements could wind up with an un-approved and untimely change, which can be a serious issue in some environments.

hello, this is not an auto-update - the EME decryption module is considered part of the browser. due to licensing issues and the proproetary nature of this plugin mozilla cannot distribute this directly, but the browser will download it a short time after its first start (& update it). you could try setting media.gmp-provider.enabled to false in about:config to prohibit that behaviour.
