I've been plagued with the search engine by the name of "search:conduit" and can NOT get rid of it.

I've gone into Firefox about:config, and changed the search engine to www.google.com, then went into Options General Page and reset that to www.google.com. Closed out of Firefox, reopened it, and still have the 'search:conduit' staring back at me.

I've gone thru Control Panel's -Add/Remove programs, and thats been cleaned up.

I guess I'll try deleting Firefox next, unless someone in-the-know speaks up (PLEASE!!!).

Thats about it.

TIA

Hy, did you try to do this: Go into Control Panel=>Internet Properties an change there "Home Page" with:"https://www.google.ro/". If it doesn't work go to Firefox=>Options=>General=>"When Firefox Start" and there put the start page https://www.google.ro/.

Have you tried using the SearchReset add-on?

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/searchreset/?src=ss

If that doesn't do it, please provide the contents of your Troubleshooting Information from Help > Troubleshooting Information -> Copy Text to Clipboard and then paste that info in to the Reply Box here.

Bogdan,

I guess I spoke too soon, I shut down last night, and this morning when I started up with a fresh boot, that dang 'Search:Conduit' was back.

I've gone through all 3 steps again, so I'll find out tomorrow if I've made any head-way.

The 3 Steps Are:

1. Placing 'Google' in the field under INTERNET OPTIONS in CONTROL PANEL

2. Placing 'Google' in the HOME PAGE FIELD at TOOLS-OPTIONS-GENERAL

3. Removing 'Search:Conduit' from the prefs.js file.

As Arnie once said, "I'll Be Bark"

You can check in "Windows Control Panel > Programs" for recently installed programs (sort by "Installed on") to see if anything from Conduit or any other suspicious software shows up.

If you do not keep changes after a restart or otherwise have problems with preferences, see:
