The "hide find bar" add-on doesn't seem to be working with Firefox 25.0.1. It seems to be compatible, and is in the add-on tool bar, so perhaps the find bar has been implemented differently in this version of Firefox? Anybody know if there's a fix, or another add-on that does the same job?

In any case, it would be great if this kind of thing was an option in Firefox's own preferences, to allow users to set the find bar to automatically hide after, e.g., 10 seconds of disuse.

Hello oldified,

the add-on you use is made of a volunteer not of a contributor of Mozilla. The owner of this add-on has to update this add on and not the contributor of Mozilla. If you need more information about the update of this add-on or something else please contact the person who made this add-on.

if you mean this Hide Tab bar please follow the next step:

Fortunately, this can easily be resolved if you desire the keep tabs hidden. You can install "Hide tab bar with one tab", an extension hosted on Mozilla's add-ons site, which will restore the ability to hide the tab bar.

Do not hesitate to contact us further.

The "hide tab bar with one tab" add-on does something different than the "hide find bar" add-on, but it is also useful. I guess the reason I wrote here is because both these add-ons have features that I hope will be considered as additions to firefox itself, as they are "common sense" ways to make firefox more user-friendly rather than the usual "user preferences that don't suit everyone" type of features that should be reserved for user-made add-ons.

The Find bar did change in Firefox 25 from a global bar to a "per tab" bar. You can change its behavior in many ways using this newer extension: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/findbar-tweak/

More likely this extension:

It appears that its developer has discontinued the extension, so someone would have to pick it up and fix the code. I don't if that would be easy because current Firefox versions show the find bar only in the selected tab and hide it when you switch to another tab, so the old hide code might not work even if you fix the problem with the changed selector (id #FindToolbar no longer exists, there is only a findbar node name).
