1.Both of our computers are going into hibination or standby (black screen) when listening to my lectures online(25min approx.) although the sound continues. Did not have this issue before but am now running the new windows version.

2.Also when typing in the address bar if i take too long it appears to jump and therefore type the wrong address

hello sasby01!

1. what you're describing probably isn't hibernation mode but your pc is switching off just the screen to minimize energy consumption. you can change this timespan in the windows control panel/power section: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-hk/windows7/change-create-or-delete-a-power-plan-scheme

2. you might want to try this: enter about:config into the firefox location bar (confirm the info message in case it shows up) & search for the preference named browser.urlbar.autoFill. double-click it and change its value to false.
