How do I close FireFox to install the new one? It must be close.

How can I close FireFox temp. which I down load the new one? I can-not down the new one without closing the old one. No information is given on the new one to close the old one. I asked the Question on the computer, and no one knows. Can you help me. Thank you,

Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.

Close Firefox via File > Exit Firefox

Uninstall your current Firefox version, if possible.

  • Do NOT remove personal data when you uninstall the current version or you lose your bookmarks and other data because all profile folders will be removed.

Start the installation of the downloaded Firefox 9 installer with a double-click on icon on the desktop.

Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.
