nitro pdf reader advertisement / vuzit, how to delete the add

A while back, I updated Firefox and downloading/viewing became a problem. An advertisement for nitro pdf reader pops up whenever I try to view or download a pdf file. After a long while the pdf file shows up on the screen and if I want to save it, I have to download it separately? Previously there was no advertisement, and the pdf file downloaded and showed up on the screen? BTW the advertisement is for a reader that uses Windows, vice a Mac?

How do I get rid of the advertisement? Chrome and Safari do not have this problem.
