I have Firefox running on Windows 7. I loaded Ask.cnoom and cannot remove it. There are posts for Windows 7 and Firefox 5.0. There is a hidden file that reloads Ask.com. Does someone have a step by step solution for Windows 7 and Firefox 5.0?
I uninstalled Regwork and the Ask.com tool bar using Windows 7 uninstall. I have looked everywhere I can think of and changed all my homepages and default browsers to Google. Google comes up on the start page for Firefox, but as soon as I type in a search, the browser goes to Ask.com. I went into about:config and reset everything I could. Ask.com still pops up. Firefox has to be going to a hidden folder or file someplace and dredging up old Ask.com parameters and putting them into the Firefox configuration.
I am basically illiterate when it comes to navigating code and changing stuff. I need a very simple, step by step procedure that is so easy a caveman could follow it and do it. The steps have to describe what I will see in a Windows 7 environment. All the solutions I could find describe folders I cannot find. They describe tools and such that I cannot find in the menus where they are said to be.
I am not the only person out there with this problem, so a definitive set of instructions will benefit thousands of other users.

Me again,
A friend suggested that I do a system restore.
I did a search for system restore in Windows 7 and got a very intuitive menu.
I selected an earlier system restore point and executed the restore.
After the computer restart I reloaded Firefox 5.0 and the Ask.com problem was corrected.
My friend says this approach may work about 25% of the time to fix this kind of problem. In my case it worked and I am happy.
Thanks all.
