I got a message that one of my Java Console extension wasn't working, so I uninstalled it and restarted Firefox. After that my bookmarks disappeared. The tool bar disappeared and the main bookmarks menu is mostly unresponsive. I tried to restore older versions - it says that it's unable to process the file; I know the file's there, because I see it in the file folder. I tried importing from Explorer; it supposedly finished the task but nothing appeared in the screen. I even tried syncing with my iPhone - no luck. It won't even let me add a new bookmark or access the tool bar options through the main menu. The function seems completely disabled. I tried to close Firefox using the task manager - no luck. I even uninstalled Firefox and re-downloaded and reinstalled it off your site. No luck. How do I get my bookmarks back and get Firefox working normally again?

Hello George.

You may be having a problem with some extension that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all extensions (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?

I disabled all add-ons and no change. I even tried disabling all plug-ins, and that didn't help either.

Hum. Would the java console somehow break Firefox? That's odd, but not impossible. Try reading this articles and see if it leads you somewhere...

Yeah, I saw that article and tried those solutions. The only symptom that really described it was the one about Firefox not shutting down properly. I tried that, and it had no effect. I don't use Norton 360 either. I use ZoneAlarm.
