Firefox locks up iPad Pro running latest iPadOS 14.4.2

When run on an iPad Pro 3rd gen running the latest iPadOS 14.4.2, Firefox completely locks up at the Firefox icon screen, allowing nothing else to run.

All you can do is to let the iPad battery run down to 0, then restart ... and then remove FF entirely.

This is also an issue on an iPad Pro 1st Gen running iPadOS beta 14.5, but I always attributed this problem to the beta os. Now it’s happening on a main iPadOS release.
