Is there a way to freeze a website to keep it from continually loading or updating?

Many webpages load continually after the main body has finished. They continue to load other adds, vids and update what has already loaded. Even if you click the "X" at the top or press <ESC> the background links will continue to load or update after a short time. Is there a program or addon that will stop all activity and not let it restart after the main body has loaded? A way to completely freeze ALL activity on the page unless you click on something.

Go to the Mozilla Add-ons Web Page {web Link} (There’s a lot of good stuff here) and search for a good ad / pop-up blocker.

Yes. It is called disallow. But like many great add-ons, it was left behind when Firefox Quantum came out.
