When I was using my firefox this morning (10/15/14) at work I had no problems with it. I run Windows 8.1. I closed it to go to lunch, but when I tried to open it upon my return, nothing happened. I'd click on the icon (both in taskbar and desktop) and it would not open. I shut down my computer and restarted it a few times and the same thing occurred. My Chrome opens up without any issues.

So I uninstalled firefox, downloaded the newest version (33.0) and tried to install it. I double-clicked on the setup icon and nothing happens. I try to install it as the Administrator and nothing happens. I open my Task Manager and there is a background process running called "7z Setup SFX (32 bit)" that pops up when I double click the setup icon. I can't delete the setup icon until I stop that process from running (and I'm not sure it is running as it is using 0% of the CPU).

I'm at a loss. Tried installing older versions of firefox and the same thing happens. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Hello Deadhead312, try to boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (also : http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2809468/en-us) and then see if that allows to download and install Firefox from the next link :

https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/

thank you
