How do I empty trash from Mozilla Thunderbird? I[ve tried right clicking on the "empty trash" but nothing happens!

The last new email I've received on Thunderbird for one of my accounts was on 5/13/2026 at 12:02 p.m. Every time I open thunderbird it tries to re-download the entire yahoomail account and times out. I have deleted all emails from the yahoo mail box from 5/13 and backwards. All spam emails have been deleted and the trash can has been emptied. Per online instructions I have also deleted the popstate.dat file, tried to repair the inbox file by right clicking on it, going to properties and clicking repair folder. I also tried to compact the folders, and have turned off my virus protection and nothing seems to be working. I also tried a new app generated password from yahoo. Current setup is pop.mail.yahoo.com port 995 SSL/TLS, authentication method = normal password. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Suddenly Thunderbird takes a long time to download even a few (10-20) emails from Gmail and then it freezes on an email and as I click on different emails only the original one shows on the bottom half of the screen, even if I change to a different folder/email account. Also it will not close when I hit the X in the upper right corner.
If I click on one of the other apps, such as Calendar it goes to calendar but when I go back to email it still shows that same frozen email.
I tried clicking on the three bars (hamburger) to find the Thunderbird version and nothing happens.
I have restarted the computer but that has not helped.
This is an add on to the previous portion that I wrote yesterday. Today nothing shows in the portion where I usually view the message after I've clicked on it. Also the options in the tool bar such as File, Edit, View etc. do not respond to a click after the first time I have attempted to look at a message.
I am considering uninstalling and reinstalling. If I do that will it find all my emails and folders etc. again? There are a few emails that I am quite desperate to access that I have put in folders.
I'd really appreciate any help I can get on this as some important work is being delayed until I can access those emails.

Hello, Previously, I had my email with Xfinity, but they stopped this service and set us to Yahoo Mail. I’ve had no luck in setting it up in Outlook, so I tried Thunderbird and encountered the same problem. I have Windows 11. I’m using the IMAP settings recommended by Yahoo. During the setup process, everything checks, but when it asks for an address, which is from Xfinity, and a password, which I’m not sure they’re asking for so I tried the Xfinity, Yahoo, and Mozilla passwords. Thunderbird 148+ on Windows 11 repeatedly prompts for the password when synchronizing an Exchange account (professional) configured with the native Exchange support (no add-on installed).
The account only offers “NTLM” or “Normal password” authentication methods. OAuth2 is not available in the account settings.
During synchronization, Thunderbird asks for the password separately for many folders. However, clicking “Retry” usually works immediately without changing the password, and manually re-entering the same password also works.
The issue then reappears for the next folder, causing continuous authentication prompts (I have many folders...).

This looks like an authentication/session handling issue rather than an actual invalid password.

this morning, after logging into my Thunderbird account, all my subfolders from my main account were in the "Trash" folder, and there was no correspondence in them. Folders named "V 2" also appeared in the Trash folder. Could you please advise if it's possible to restore these correspondence and folders to their previous state? I also tried using the "repair folder" function, but it didn't work.

Can i have more than 1 sig as i use maybe 10 different sigs for different reasons?
I see a use file do i get to choose a differt file when inserting sig or am i stuck with one and have to manualy change file or copy from somewhere else.
Once i get Thinder runnin i wil be happy to support on a monthly basis but i need to se if ti will suffice.

Ich kam nicht mehr in mein Thunderbird. Es hieß immer, dass ich das Passwort brauche. Dieses wurde aber nicht akzeptiert. Bin Laie in den technischen Dingen. Habe die App deinstalliert, da ich mir sicher war, dass das Passwort das richtige ist. Nun wollte ich die App neu intallieren, aber dazu soll ich das Passwort eingeben. Wahrscheinlich hatte ich es doch mal geändert, kann mich aber nicht erinnern, da ich es ja nie mehr brauchte. Jetzt komme ich auf gar nichts mehr, da man das PAsswort eingeben muss und ich erst gar nicht in Thunderbird komme. Wäre aber sehr wichtig, da hier all meine Mails gespeichert sind.

Hello. Something strange happens in my emails. I read and/or delete an email and then at the bottom of any saved emails, the following shows up: no "from", no "subject" and no "recipient. It only shows 12/31/1969 5:00 pm. It is almost impossible to delete it. If I am lucky, it might finally disappear after closing Thunderbird and starting it again, several times. Becoming very much a nuisance. Thank you.

I'm confused and slightly concerned.
Through no deliberate action by me, Thunderbird DOWNGRADED itself from the May 2026 standard release version to an AUGUST 2025 ESR(Extended Support Release) version.
UPDATE: the next application restart brought the ESR version up to date, but why was I forced onto the ESR version?!
What could have pissibly triggered this? I don't want or need ESR, and without knowing the cause, I have e no guarantee it won't happen again. Worst if all, everywhere I look, there is zero explanation for this. It appears to be fairly unprecedented.
My original installer for 102.15.1 was downloaded from the official Thunderbird site in 2025.

After moving my Thunderbird profile to a new computer none of my accounts can authenticate. I followed the instructions here: Move Thunderbird data to a new computer, using "An alternative method for manual transfer between Windows 10 and Windows 11 computers." What explains the response in the attached image, "Something went wrong," and how can I fix it? Happens when I click "Next", the first step to log it.
I have a related problem with other accounts set up in the profile. This one is using Oauth2. I tried switching to password, and hand a similar problem. I tested the connection to the server in Settings for the account and it was successful. Same for the others. They all authenticate successfully on my old computer.

Gidday I have been using Thunderbird for sometime and recently had to re-install the program so now I have the latest version of it installed but the program isn't removing the emails from the server. I can't locate the "delete from server" setting anywhere in the options. I have searched everywhere for an answer here and on the iterweb so would appreciate if someone could provide help please. cheers col
