I have spent the last TWO HOURS trying to find an answer to what should be a simple problem, and it seems not to exist!

I need to find out WHERE Firebird lists my email account PASSWORD.

I do NOT want to reset my password.

I simple need to know WHAT my password is, and since I set up the account [actually a few accounts] several years ago, my notes are evidently null and void, because none of those passwords seem to work.

My email is through verizon.net, which is one of the problems because they gave all of their email coltrol to AOL, which thouroughly sucks, and they seem not to have anyone who speaks fluent English who can assist me in FINDING the current password!

If ANYONE can help, it would be most greatly appreciated!!

I have a website it write about pet but its not loading saying privacy error when i go advance option still did not work.

Have configured Thunderbird server settings with the OAuth2 authentication. However, still unable to receive or send emails. Error message: "smtp.fontier.server does not recognize authentication method; change authentication method in settings." I believe I have made the suggested changes, but Thunderbird email still not working. I would like to visit via phone with a Thunderbird rep as the Support page has not given me any solutions. Please let me know if I can call and visit. Emailing me won't work.

I am facing an issue with Thunderbird.

I integrated my email address but there problem is the new message is giving "Undelivered Mail Returned to Sender" but I can reply and receive the emails.

I have just migrated Thunderbird to my new CUBI desktop running Windows 11. I get security errors when I launch Thunderbird. My email provider The Messaging Company advised me to change server settings, which are now shown in the Troubleshooting Information page as account1 (pop3) pop.themessagingco.com.au:995 SSL/TLS Normal password smtp.themessagingco.com.au:587 STARTTLS Normal password true.

On launching Thunderbird I get the message Secure connection failed live.mozillamessaging.com uses an invalid security certificate. The certificate is not trusted because the issuer certificate has expired. Error code: <a id="errorCode" title="SEC_ERROR_EXPIRED_ISSUER_CERTIFICATE">SEC_ERROR_EXPIRED_ISSUER_CERTIFICATE</a>

   This could be a problem with the server's configuration, or it could be someone trying to impersonate the server.
   If you have connected to this server successfully in the past, the error may be temporary, and you can try again later.

Or you can add an exception…

AND when I attempt to send an email I get warning that the SMTP server does not have a valid certificate. If I ask, in either case, to "Get Certificate" the response is that the site attempts to identify itself with invalid information.

I have "tried again later" over two weeks, and nothing has changed.

The Messaging Company is a fairly large email provider: it seems strange that its security is incomplete. However, I am not happy to just set an exception and over-ride these errors without doing all I can to check that there is not something screwy going on. I really value using Thunderbird, and The Messaging Company's advice that I should just use webmail is not at all satisfactory: I keep everything on my computer or backed up to a portable drive here.

Please: is there anything I can do or should know to fix this problem?

I have an issue trying to configure a secondary email account, for a non-profit I do some work for. It was ok in the past, though I recall was tricky to set up on TB a couple of years ago. But now it has ceased to function after I migrated TB profile (successfully apart from this issue) no matter what I try. I’d be grateful for any suggestions. As is the case with many non-profits, there’s little tech support, but others can use the email account ok. I think it may be a TB issue as I have been able to set up the account ok with MS new Windows Outlook app (lame, but better than Mail…low bar). I’d rather have this account on my TB client along with the others I use. And the issue is replicated on two of my PCs. TB account set up reports “can’t detect settings from host server”. I found a support thread link text, which says “The failure to detect settings is rather common where hosted domains are concerned. Mostly because everything is done to a price and most of the things around encryption are done in a halfhearted manner. As is the server setups for mail. However by faithfully copying the settings from the provider as to domains server name and ports it should work.” So I did manual configuration – copied the settings from the successful Outlook set up, but no dice – all I get is server time out message. Settings are: IMAP server: mail.XXXX.org.uk Port 993 Security SSL/TLS [earlier working settings were STARTTLS port 143] SMTP server: mail.XXXX.org.uk Port 465 Security SSL/TLS [[earlier working settings were STARTTLS port 587] And using Normal Password for both; I tried Autodetect too but no good. I’ve see a suggestion that turning off the firewall (Norton) might work, but I’m reluctant to do that and doesn’t seem to make sense that would cause the issue. How can I stop Google constantly interfering with my usage of other programs. It wants me to sign -in with my gmail a/c. Not interested. Only just happened. Have been using Thunderbird (and Firefox) without any problems for many years. I feel Google is trying stand-over tactics.

When I first installed thunderbird a couple of months ago I set it up for my vigin media and my google email addresses and it all worked fine. Then about a month ago it refused to send e-mails from my virgin media email address ( I can receive but not send). Virgin media said it was a password issue I had to use a third party e-mail address to log into my account and change the password. It has taken VM 3-4 weeks to create the new password for me.

However Thuderbirds does to recognies the new password. I removed the VM email address for Thunderbird and tried to reinstall it but I can't as it says the pass word is wrong. The new password works in outlook and in the google e-mail browser on my phone and tablet but not in thunderbird, so nothing wrong with the password.

I have read a blog from someone with a similar issue (except he could not receive emails from his VM address). He was recommended to create a new profile. I have done that and it still does not work.

 Any ideas anyone?

Issue began Monday 7/1 where Thunderbird would not receive new email from AOL. At times it would tell me to enter the password. But the p/w I entered was not correct so that made situation worse. Found "Saved Passwords" in Help->Settings where I was able to retrieve the -correct- p/w for one of the email addresses being actively used in Thunderbird and problem solved. When I went to find the correct p/w for the other email address, the account in "Saved Logins" was not there?? Was odd that the list did display email accounts I haven't used in years, but not the 2nd one that I use daily! I tried changing the p/w at AOL Mail, but that didn't work for either of my two accounts. Bottom line, why isn't lf82me@verizon.net showing up in the "Saved Passwords" in Settings?

Tell me how I can continue to use thunderbird with the above account and also Denis.Clarke.hotmail.com after September 18. I have 4 individual historic E mail accounts and thunderbird joins them together. What do you need to do? To deal with threat below.

Hi Cannot send emails via Thunderbird. Sending an email via grahamg.d@ntlworld.com failed (as do my others addresses - not tested this time) with message "Mail server responded - Authentication Code Require (VM401). can you help please? Is there a step by step tutorial on how to do this?

Hallo, durch eine Unachtsamkeit habe ich das Hauptpasswort (Primäres Passwort.) von Thunderbird gelöscht. Ich finde auf den Hilfeseiten keinen Hinweis wie man da Passwort zurücksetzten kann. Dadurch komme ich nicht mehr an meine Mails. Freundliche Grüße

WHY is it that I can get into my email account through Thunderbird and download mail, but when I try to go into the account manually I can't? I go into the settings copy the password, then manually input it into gmail, but it says it's the wrong password? I am using MacOS 10.14.6, and Thunderbird 115.12.2 (64-bit)

I have TB ver 115.12.2 64 bit. It reports as being up to date. During attempting to make the changes necessary to accommodate Microsoft's Modern Authentication I reach a point where the option to select OAuth2 does not appear in the Outgoing Server SMPT settings drop down menu, see the image. How do I deal with this? Thanks for your help.

So - SMTP suddenly stopped working in our whole company. We are using Gmail accounts configured with Thunderbird for a few years already. It's all been working until an hour ago.

Tried deleting and adding accounts, changing authentification to google app passwords etc.\

SMTP servers do have different descriptions.

Just configured an account in outlook and it works out of the box, so I'm guessing it's got something to do with Thunderbird settings, but we didn't change anything, and especially that we have 8 PCs and it stopped working on every one of it.

The error I get when trying to send a message is:

"Sending message failed. The message failed to send because it failed to connect to the outgoing mail (SMTP) server "smtp.gmail.com". The server may be unreachable or not accepting SMTP connections. Please verify that your outgoing mail server settings are correct and then try again or contact your server administrator."

Without notice, Thunderbird today required me to sign-in to my Google account and then produced a window in which it said it wanted to access to my mail, contacts and calendar; in order to compose, send, share, delete permanently, among actions on my personal content. I tried to "Deny" (see below) but the window just returned and returned and could not be deleted. (see "Uploaded images", below for the content of this window).

Is this a scam? Or the result of a hacker?

I use the Thunderbird email client on my Microsoft Windows 10 desktop tower PC in order to access my Gmail account using POP3, using "only" my email address and password.

However, I note that Google plan to introduce more stringent and tighter sign in/authentication methods from September 2024 as follows:
