Hi, I tend to archive my local folders once a year and until this year the archives have gone into a folder called archives but this year they seem to have disappeared. It says they went into a folder called All Mail but there is no such folder under local folders. What has happened to these emails. Thanks, Roger

Hi there. I've always used the two click method to sort primary and secondary columns (Not sure what the term would be) So I click on Date column header, first, until it is sorted with newest email at the top. This usually takes 2 clicks as it seems that the default sort for that column is oldest on top. Then I click on the Read status header, also 2 clicks as it seems that read on top is the default.

How it used to work is, after this, the newest unread emails is on top of the list. But today I noticed that now the oldest unread is on top when doing the same tests. This is after the latest update for Thunderbird for Linux Mint that I ran. (It might have chanced earlier but I've only noticed it today)

I use Thunderbird 128.5.2 on Linux. I have set it to use my regional settings (i.e., locale). That meant, because I have set LC_TIME="nl_NL.UTF-8", that time was in 24-hour format (in the date column of the message list and in the message header). Recently, it switched to a 12-hour a.m./p.m. format (e.g., 07-01-2025 1:47 p.m. instead of something with 13:47). How do I get it to use a 24-hour format again?

I do not want to fiddle with datetime formatting settings. I just want my locale settings to be used. If it turns out locale settings have changed, I need to fix those. (I do not think so, on the command line, the date command returns do 9 jan 2025 19:33:33 CET, something in 24-hour format.)

hallo, two weeks ago my "Arcor-account" on Thunderbird indicated "timeout" and I couldn't send or recieve messages. Then I deleted the account on Thunderbird and tried to reinstall. But that doesn't work. Thunderbird found the settings of the adress, but when confirming it, they said the settings or password are wrong, what is definitely not the case. The Arcoradress is very old, Arcor belongs meanwhile to Vodafone. May be that causes the problem. I failed also on trying to install manually.

I have installed 2 valid SMIME certificates. When I send to the first recipient, the subject line is encrypted. when I send to the second recipient, there is a lock symbol with a red diagonal line across it, i presume denoting that the subject line is not encrypted. What is the difference is there a user setting for it be changed?

Good morning, Regrettably, I cannot use Thunderbird for Adresses containing a German "ü" or other signs in UTF8. It is refused by "Senden der Nachricht fehlgeschlagen. Der lokale Teil der Empfängeradresse "...ü...@arcor.de" enthält ASCII-fremde Zeichen. Ihr Server unterstützt SMTPUTF8 nicht. Bitte ändern Sie die Adresse und versuchen Sie es erneut."

And more regrettably and astonishlingly, there is no single attempt after asking this or part of this very helpless error message. Hope You can solve this severe bug, and sorry for taking Your time. Best wishes Hans J. Holm

The Reply command no longer shows when I want to send an email back to the person that sent it. There is a note at the bottom of the email that says: A unique identity matching the From address was not found. The message will be sent using the current From field and setting from identity Vince Hunter < omni232@telus.net> Can you give me instructions in laymans terms to fix this bug and return it back to the way it was?

I am searching for an email to a certain person. When I search for messages in my main folder, with the "search subfolders" checked, it searches my inbox, but it does not search my sent box. I tried rebuilding the database, but that did not fix it. What should i try?

The built-in Thunderbird Calendar event notification fails to dismiss in the pop up window. This is been occurring since December 2024.

Does anyone else have this problem, and is there a solution?

I have recently had to have my computer operating system restored. I have a Windows 10 Pro 64 bit machine. My broadband provider is Grande Communications whose new name is Astound. Anyway, I cannot get my account (setblack@grandecom.net) to send or receive emails once I reloaded Thunderbird onto my machine. It is frustrating as the dickens as IMAP Server and SMPT Server both tell me that the certificate is not valid for my address/provider. I have put in the correct ports for both servers according to the information provided by Astound for users in Texas (I live in Austin). I suspect that my provider is the source of this situation but I am bound and determined to find a solution as I have used Firefox and Thunderbird for a good while.

It seems like I have had similar problems connecting to GrandeCommunications in the past. I can confirm security exemptions and check the box for Thunderbird to remember this confirmation. I must have figured it out at one point as I was using these programs till my machine bluescreened.

I am trying to link my school, (Google Workspace) email to my Thunderbird client, but I am running into issues. I did a little bit of light digging, and then found the settings to enable IMAP and POP3 in gmail. I tried it again, but no dice. I did some more digging, and found a post by google about deprecating support for "Insecure" methods of login that use a username & password. They recommend that I find a "Sign in with google" button instead. I am pretty sure that Thunderbird doesn't use traditional google-session tokens. Is there another way to link my account? Or am I mistaken?

Having moved Thunderbird from Drive C: to Drive D:, space saving, and with everything working very well I note that my Address Book is still on Drive C:. Please advise how to move this to Drive D:. Happy New Year, and apologies for the timing of this question.

Please teach me how to quickly jump to the folder where I have saved an attachment file on my PC soon after I saved the file? I want to open the attachment file soon after I have saved it to a folder I selected upon saving it. Does Thunderbird have a function to indicate the folder to which I have saved an attachment file on my PC?

Hey guy's! Please bare with me, I'm new to thunderbird. I have my gmail account setup and it's downloading the messages fine except the date received is the wrong way around.

as in newer messages are being displayed at the bottom of the list. Is there anyway of inverting or reversing this?

bold text TBD after start consumes a lot of CPU-power and blocks other applications. What could be a reason for this behaviour? 'configuration': Debian 9 Linux and TBD 91.10.0. 64bit this behaviour appears also with newer versions of TBD.

Hi, Although Tools > Export, allows the for the export of 'everything' it would be incredibly helpfull if it could just have an export option(s) with a / a selection of Account and configuration details, not just 'everything', all emails etc. This would greatly help with setting up new users / machine upgrates and transfers etc, even with backing up account details / configurations etc. PLease consider.

I am trying to reply to an email, I have written the msg but there does not appear to be a 'Send' option. Can you help please? We don't normally have this problem.

Even though the NAS drive is completely accessible under my Ubuntu installation and accessible in the file explorer, T-B constantly loses the settings if anything happens out of the ordinary. If theres any delay in the connection to the archived directory, T-B defaults back to a non network drive. Lately the T-B program simply refuses to use the network drive directory I select in it's own browser window directory window. All my Email from 2015 is there in archived directories, T-B refuses to load the local directory that has been in this location for almost a decade.

I can access this NAS from anywhere on my network including this Ubuntu desktop however T-B refuses to recognize the local directory.

Whats wrong with T-B lately?

Delete used to not work as TB seemed to be forever 'compacting', now appears resolved.

THREADS, the display tacks a new email onto a recent thread-related or not. I did not ask for this and would like to remove it. Seems that since the People behind TB have now left us to the 'community' We are not impressed.
