Hello, redownload firefox from: https://firefox.com and follow the on-screen prompts, if you need to set it as your default browser follow this: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/make-firefox-your-default-browser

hello after the new firefox loaded the old one bearing the shield asked to make changes to the pc and i declined thinking its the old one, what do i do?

When the shield comes up, do not decline -- make sure you have the right installer -- you can get it from here: https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/57.0/win64/

i went back ti the new firefox from link u sent and it asked if i needed it to be my online administrator and since i saw d shield i said yes but firefox isnt yet my browser and i dont know if i am protected

I'm confused. When you originally posted, your browser identified itself as Firefox 7, which is rather ancient. Can you start Firefox now after reinstalling? If so, could you check the Troubleshooting Information page to see what version is listed in the "Application Basics" table? Either:

  • "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Troubleshooting Information
  • (menu bar) Help > Troubleshooting Information
  • type or paste about:support in the address bar and press Enter

Now... it sounds as though there might be other issues on your system. Could you supplement your regular security software with some of the on-demand scanning/cleaning tools listed in the support article: Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware. Those are free (or free trials).
