Where did you download that "FireFox Setup 43.0.1.exe" file from?

Firefox 43.0.1 is really outdated and shouldn't be used. Always make sure to download Firefox only from the official Mozilla server and not from other websites.

Yes, indeed

The poster is using Vista so Firefox 43.0.1 still being served to Vista and WinXP users due to 43.0.2 setpups being signed.

You can try to download Firefox 44.0.2 from http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/44.0.2/win32/ and pick language.

You need to have Vista updated, at least with KB2763674 patch in order to run 43.0.2 or newer setups.

I hate to tell you this - but I get the same result with both links - the download fails the exact same way

As you already have Firefox 43 installed, did you try to update Firefox to the current release via "Help > About"?

Boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support to see if that has effect in case security software is causing problems.

Thanks, James. 1) I get the same result with your link 2) I checked Windows for updates and that one does not show as available - I think I probably have it from long ago, looking at the number of it relative to current numbers

No No !! I do NOT have Firefox 43 installed - I am trying to download it - whatever version Mozilla picks for US English. But Chrome s=keeps blocking it due to a "virus". I suspect they just don't want me downloading the competition !! Is tht possibel ?

Yes, you likely remember me from the same issue with downloading it from IE. In the interim, I bought Windows 10, created a new partition for Win 10 so that I could run both Vista and Win 10 "for now" and then eventually rid myself of Vista. But the Win 10 custom install does not work and MS is of no help. So I'm just trying get a good browser working while I work on preparing to replace Vista with 10 (no dual boot) on 2 machines. Both machines have lots of room and lots of speed, so I need not replace them. I also have lots of software and data, I want to preserve.

Please try cor-el suggestion (Boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support), and then probably you will be able to download and install firefox from ftp link or form download-installer cdn mozilla net link.

Sorry, but I did not have a chance to try safe mode until this morning. I regret to say that I got the same result - download terminated due to virus.
