FF crashes as soon as it is started (in safe mode as well). Switched to Beta, same result.
I tried getting rid of the pluginreg.dat file as well as the resetting FF but nothing has worked. For a while it only seemed to crash on certain sites but it got progressively worse. I replaced it w/ the beta version which seemed work for a while but now it crashes as soon as it starts (same for safe mode). I never had a problem w/ FF before but the last few months it has been a constant problem. IE is an unacceptable option so I'm using Chrome but I don't like it very much and would really like to find out what is causing FF to crash.
Thanks, Ken

We're sorry to hear that your Firefox seems to be crashing when you open it. Please perform the following steps to give us a crash report ID that helps us find out more about the cause of the crash.
- Press the following shortcut to get a Run window: [Windows] + [R]. This should bring up a window that contains a text field.
- In that text field, enter %APPDATA% and press Enter. An explorer window should open.
- From that explorer window, double-click on the Mozilla folder, then double-click on Firefox and then on Crash reports. Double-click on submitted.
- Now, you should see a list of files that contain reports. Go to View > Arrange Icons by > Modified to get the most recent files at the top of the window.
- Open the most recent 5 files with a text editor and copy the IDs.
- Paste each ID with bp- into the reply window on the forums.
Thanks in advance!
You can find more information and troubleshooting steps in the Troubleshoot Firefox crashes (closing or quitting unexpectedly) article.
Note that there is a crash ID in the System Details List.
Try to boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.

This appears to be the crash ID
It does exactly the same thing when I boot in safe mode and run FF.
Here are the 5 most recent crash reports:

Oh BTW, thunderbird just crashed (a first for me) but it seems to have recovered.
Thanks, Ken
have you booted into safe mode, it may be a cause of your antivirus or a driver
Running in safe mode (or as administrator for that matter) made no difference.
I mean windows safe mode not firefox safe mode
So did I. I booted in windows safe mode and it did exactly the same thing. K
also some startup crashes of firefox are due to malware
You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:
- Microsoft Safety Scanner
- MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware
- TDSSKiller - AntiRootkit Utility
- Hitman Pro
- ESET Online Scanner
Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one.
I've run everything and it all comes up clean. In addition, spybot always runs in the background. FF is the only program that has issues. BTW, MS security essentials is horrible antivirus software.
