I am just about ready to give up on Firefox, and I have been using it since the 80's when it was still Netscape, and I BOUGHT a copy. I am having so many problems I don't know where to start. 1)Every time I open Firfox, I get 4-10 tabs open at the same time thanking me for installing add ons. Over and over and over!! 2) I have a 64 bit computer, but Firefox opens in 32 bit mode. How can I get rid of the 32, and only use the 64?? This has all started since the recent upgrades. I have never had problems like this before. If Last Pass asks me one more time to sync my bookmarks, you are going to hear me scream in California!! And switch to IE, even though I am a financial supporter of Mozilla. I just can't waste any more time on this. I even tried deleting EVERYTHING and re-installing, but the same problems returned!!! I am using Windows 7 with the latest upgrades, on a Dell Intel quad core computer, with 8 gbs of memory.

PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First of all the normal Windows editions of Firefox are 32 bit versions. The 64 bit versions are more experimental and tend to be used by developers rather than ordinary users.

I do not immediatly know what causes your problems, it could be the combination of add-ons or even malware. It possibly would help to know in more detail what is happening, but it would certainly help if you tried in Firefox's safe mode.

  • start safe mode <-- click for instructions
e.g. by holding shift while you start Firefox
  • do not make changes in the initial window, just click on continue
  • use only the default Firefox theme
  • if problems continue, then whilst in safe mode also disable all plugins
  • see also troubleshooting extensions and themes

Safe mode with Add Ons disabled seemed to help. What should I do, disable ALL add ons??

Thank you for your help!!

Try to work out if an add-on or combination of add-ons causes the problem. If you have quite a few disable 1/2 at a time to find which set cause the problem.

Thanks, I'll give it a try. My suspicion is that it has something to do with either last Pass or bookmark Synchronation or both.

Thanks for your reply!!
