I can't get any search engines to add on

I have done everything suggestion by deleting items from the profile folder. I also uninstalled every version of Firefox I had and downloaded another one but nothing has worked. In fact, the new firefox version somehow got all my old history and used it over. This really sucks. I think Chrome is the answer for me...

Unable to search or add new engines - MozillaZine Knowledge Base

If the Search Bar no longer works or you can't add new search engines, the problem may be a corrupt "search.sqlite" file
