firefox 3.6.13 constantly goes into 'not responding' running Vista after recent Vista upgrades

Running Vista I recently installed m/soft upgrades and as soon as firefox tries to open a web page it locks up - (not responding) It also has problems (embarrasing it seems) in reopening last used tabs
