How do I stop Thunderbird from putting returned mail in the SPAM box?
Whenever I send email to an invalid address, when it comes back to me it ends up in my SPAM box. I need it to go in my inbox so action can be taken. I have tried adding my postmaster address to the address book, enable whitelisting, pre junk mail filters, and enabling smart junk followed by marking emails as "not junk". Closed thunderbird and restarted. If I could, I would take the battery out and put it back in....
Please help because I have no idea what else to try

If you really mean SPAM then Thunderbird has nothing to do with this. Thunderbird uses a Junk folder not a Spam folder. Your provider or some spam filter you installed might be doing this.
