An update was downloaded without my permission, and it says Install pending... how do I prevent it from installing? This is a serious violation of the way software installation and privacy are supposed to be respected by Mozilla.

I have my settings set to "check for updates but let me choose whether to install them", but I just received notice that an update to FF 47.x will be installed the next time I restart Firefox.

Where is the update file so that I can find and delete it before it gets installed? I am running Mac OSX 10.9.5

The reason I don't want the update is that any version of Firefox past v. 44.0.2 causes web page flashing and other display problems, and I have a separate request in, as of yet not answer, to get a fix ... and yes, I have tried updating graphics drivers, turning off hardware acceleration, clearing cache and history, restarting, and disabling browser add-ons ... none of those actions work.

Thanks

No, that was not correct. It was still Firefox v. 44.0.2 at the time I posted my question ... I checked. The minimal online instructions I found on dealing with a pending update were incorrect / incomplete, hence, the reason for my posted question.

Upon the next restart today, I found that without my permission, it updated automatically to v. 47.0. I immediately deleted v. 47.0 and re-installed v. 44.0.2. I made sure that "Never check for updates" was selected since it ignored "Check for updates, but let me choose whether to install them".

If it does the update again without my permission, I am switching to a different browser. This is too bad since Firefox has been good software for the previous decade or so I have been using it.

The System Details list shows that you already have the current Firefox 47.0 release, so it looks that the update already is installed.
