I moved thunderbird to a new laptop and despite moving the msf files all the emails in my local folders did not get transferred. What do i do?

You need to move your whole profile. Msf files are only part of the story, and probably the files least essential to copy over.

Thanks Zenos. I have moved my full profile and about 70% of my emails have got transferred but not all of them
Any pattern to what is missing? Are they in IMAP-connected accounts and taking their time to download?
No particular pattern. Some folders have downloaded completely and others partly so. It has been more than a month since I did the transfer. In the first few days I could see the downloads happening gradually (and the folders getting updated) but then that stopped
