how can I get the tabs back where they belong beneath the address bar , NOT on top ??? they are on top, which puts the address bar at a variable position depending on how many tab rows exist - makes a moving target for navigating to across my dual 24 inch screens I tried your "solution" using about:config and setting browser.tab.on.top or whatever to false, but that had NO effect Maybe because TabMixPlus is installed? It does allow putting the tabs all the way at the bottom, but I don't like that either. PLEASE, give me the address bar at TOP with tabs under that!!!

Also, I don't want FlashGot to be at the right of the address bar!!!

I updated my Firefox version either yesterday or the day before. I'm currently running Aurora 29.0a2. Ever since I updated, I've found several issues:

I am no longer able to customize my browser according to the steps found here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/customize-firefox-controls-buttons-and-toolbars?redirectlocale=en-US&redirectslug=How+to+customize+the+toolbar

When I go in to customize, all I can do is move around the buttons. I used to be able to add in spacing, but there's no longer an option for that. I can't move my tabs bar underneath the url bar, which is how I used to have it (shame on me for clicking "Restore defaults"). Is there another place where there are proper customization options?

Also, my status bar seems to have disappeared. On the status bar I had the loading text and hover-url text, as well as fox clocks. The entire bar is gone. I can manage with Status4ever, but if I try to have the status text show up in the actual status bar, it doesn't. There is no bottom bar at all. Is there some option I need to select somewhere or something?

Thanks in advance.

It's total mess on Mavericks (OSX), the UI's a joke, not to mention plain broken in a few ways... Any idea how to get it back to the way I had it configured, if not possible, then I'd like to go back to the prior beta release.

Thank-you.

With beta 29 nothing looks right and the add-ons and status (may be the same) bars are gone. There are add-ons that I simply can't use or it is too much trouble to use now. There has to be a way to fix this awful mess. I can't understand why Firefox wants to look and act like Chrome anyway. I don't use Chrome for a reason. I hate the hamburger icon and the new lack of customizable things. I am hopeful that someone can tell me how to restore the add-ons bar, I guess what I called the status bar is actually the add-ons bar.

I may have to go back to 28 and just stay there is there if no way to do this and firefox wants to be like chrome (slow, ugly, not very customizable)!!

Previously I was using the classic UI (that REALLY old interface) with Firefox Nightly 28.0a1. My last update was 10 November 2013. Then I updated my nightly today and suddenly, after restarting, my UI changed for the worse. Surely enough, it didn't look like the default Google Chrome look-alike, but this is just as worse. So my question is, how do I change it back to that old classic UI? If possible, don't point me out to more add-ons, please... Thanks...

Since the most recent Firefox and Nightly updates, the orange "Firefox" box is no longer at the top left hand corner of the screen. So whereas before I could access anything without keeping the menu bar at the top, now I'm limited in my selections. The main thing I'm wanting is to easily pull up the history sidebar. But this seems impossible without opening up the menu bar first, which is pretty annoying. Am I missing something here, or have they just made this unnecessarily complicated for the user?

I was happily on FF28. I have spent a couple of years fine tuning with addons to maximise the space on my small letterbox notebook. I have Nav Bar on Title Bar so as to use that otherwise TOTALLY WASTED SPACE. I had loads of add on buttons up there with it, and more on the bar at the bottom of the screen. It took years to get it just right.

Then I heard there had been some security updates since last I used my notebook, so I hit 'about FF'. It then loaded a totally alien THING that destroyed the whole lot! And presented me with an interface that gives me no chance in hell of recreating what I had. There wasn't even a bar at the bottom of the screen any more; all the wasted space at the top was back; most of my buttons were gone; a wide chunky tool bar was wasting space, and my tabs were all round edged and too deep.

Ruined my browsing, when I had a lot of work to catch up on.

Could find nothing on how to get my settings back, so had to do a complete system restore, and then spend hours redoing all the windows updates since my last restore point.

Thanks a bunch Mozilla for dumping this on me without warning. It seems to have screwed up Mask Me as well, so I'm no longer being prompted with email addresses and passwords. God knows what else it's screwed up that I've not noticed yet.

If FF is going to keep this awful new format, I will have to prevent any more updates. Is there a way to get security updates without getting this horrible new version at the same time?

Toggling the TABS on top switch no longer works - V29

My Firefox got updated today, and it changed my settings (about:config) to put the tabs on top, instead of where they belong, on bottom. I toggled it from TRUE to FALSE, exited the broweser, and came back in. Tabs still on top. Tried it several times; tabs still on top.

How can I get the tabs back to the bottom where they belong (IMHO)? It is difficult to use the browser now, my workflow time is increasing because I have to look elsewhere for things, instead of them being where they are supposed to be. I though FIREFOX was going to continue being confirguable...? Is that changing?

BTW, everytime I posted this on FaceBook, someone at Mozilla deleted the posts. not cool.

Ugh. Even after using the theme restorer add-on, it's still not the same. What have you done, why have you done it?

What did making these changes accomplish, honestly? Stylized tabs? No option to turn them off without installing a theme? Why did you mess with the options? The fact that a theme exists just to revert your awful changes means that I'm not the only one that finds having all their settings and layout choices messed with upsetting.

Why mess with the design at all, without asking users to approve it? If you make the browser faster, great, fine. Why does the shape and placement of my tab bar have anything to do with that?

Seriously, who looked at the new design and thought "Yep! That's what we want! Approve it!"? How did multiple people approve this terrible crap?

Well, new aurora, yippie, who the F asked for it?!?

It looks like some macbook crap. Well anyways - i cant put my tabs back on the bottom as you could with the browser.tabs.on.top true/false line in the about:config. Also there is apparently no option to drag your search line down to the addon toolbar at the bottom, because the addon toolbar is non existent.

Is there anyway to undo the crap they did, or is it permanent?

on FF 27 a small gray x appears on each tab and this can be used to delete the tab even when it is not 'open' (when another tab is open in the window)

it seems that on FF 29 the delete tab 'x' now appears only on the open tab - this means when you have a lot of tabs you want to delete (not all in that window) you have to open each tab and then delete it :-(

am i missing something? is there a way to delete tabs that aren't open or config the ubiquitous 'x' back onto all tabs?

File, Edit, View etc are first; then there is home button and address bar; then bookmark toolbar; and finally tabs.

I can barely see the inactive tabs in the default theme for Firefox 29. They are muddy gray, hard to see, nearly impossible to read, and indistinguishable from the unused space for additional tabs. Can inactive tabs be brightened a bit?

Or can you recommend an add-on theme that will make the inactive tabs easier to see? Some of the other themes I tried aren't supported in Release 29.

Thanks.
