I find Sync convenient when, e.g., I am on a public computer. But when I am done using that computer, I want to delete all my bookmarks, etc., to leave Firefox as I found it on that computer. Disconnecting my Sync account leaves all the bookmarks, however. How can I restore Firefox to its original state when I am done?

I have tried the "Reset Firefox" option at about:support without success—my bookmarks remain in the browser.

I cleared the browsing history on my main computer with sync turned on. Then I went and set up a print server, installed firefox and signed into sync my account to access saved bookmarks for printing, and all the history that I had previously deleted was again loaded. How can I delete browsing history so it is also deleted from my account? This seems like a serious privacy concern not to be able to clear synced history, and hopefully there is a way aside from deleting one's account?

Today I reinstalled my PC. I already used Firefox Sync, so assumed all my bookmarks would be safe. So, I did the following:

-Reinstall Windows (8.1) -After successful installation of Windows, I installed Firefox. I lost my account info (username/password), so I needed to recover/reset the password. So I did. No problem here. -After resetting the password, I logged in to Firefox Sync. I noticed all my bookmarks are gone

What happened?

Yes i signed in. Yes i sync my account. Yes it did finished synchronization. Yes i restart browser. What's a point in my account in firefox and this stupid sync if it's not working? I'm really angry and disappointed.

my computer is starting to act up and I am afraid that if it crashes that i will loose all my info...pics etc. How do i send all my info to the cloud to store for back up? Thanks in advance.

Hi I have a firefox account and all of firefox data are synced in my laptop. A few days ago I install a new windows, and after installing firefox and signing into firefox account, nothing of my data restored. How I can restore my saved data in this new windows ?!!!

After getting a new computer, downloading firefox, and signing into my account, none of my saved bookmarks or add-ons have synced from my previous computer. Instead, the sync seems to have just saved the fresh version of firefox with no data.

How can I access an older sync point so as to restore the older data for bookmarks and addons?

How can I set one device to be the "Head" computer, so that all other devices sync from that? Now, when I clean out bookmarks on my "Head" device and then sync with my other devices, all that stuff I just got rid of ends up back where it came from. Collected from other devices, see? Thanks, Mark

Every time reinstall on my main computer, sync appears to lose all its cloud-data? AKA sync will not pull any data down. Windows 10, build 1511.

This happens every time I have to reinstall my system. In the past I would copy my profile over but this is not an available option. I lost over 200, distinct, bookmarks.

This particular time, I did not setup my profile immediately as I had other environment setup concerns so I let firefox go while rebuilding my environment. Afterwards I went in and deleted the start up profile, ran firefox.exe -p created a new one and set up my sync immediately with the same account I had been using less than 36 hours before. It has been setup now for over 12 hours and still nothing. In case it matters, I did have to do a password reset in between loss of old system and start of this system.

Recovery options? I will do whatever is asked...

What is the point of sync if I can not download my data? I have seen it said that it is not a backup solution, OK, so then how does it work? When a new browser is connected it connects to Mozilla sync and then sync asks other devices for their data?

I am royally pissed at this, as far as I am concerned this is pretty much a deal breaker for me. Firefox is better in a lot of ways than chrome, but Mozilla made a big deal about firefox sync, but if it never works than what is the point? The old system worked and was reliable for me. This new system has been nothing but trouble... Why should I use something if a heavily advertised component appears to be broken?

I have used my firefox account to sync bookmarks, but today after i reinstalled window, it did not work for me. As usual, all bookmarks appeared after i loged in, but not anymore, how i can find that backup file in firefox account ?

I have use and syn my account to save my bookmark. After format my laptop, I install firefox and syn my account again. But the bookmark stays empty, and the folder of my profile don't have any file.

I set up a new PC and want this PC's Firefox settings to be the new Master for syncing purposes. how do I do that?

I also want to understand what is the data flow when syncing my PC. does it flow the setting from my PC to the sync server or from the sync server to my PC?

Just refreshed windows and as always reinstalled firefox. Logged into my sync account and I'm waiting for my bookmarks to sync. been an hour and nada. What's up with that?

I needed to re-configure my PC due to the adware: "getconstantfun"

Not a big issue to do, including the reloading of software BUT when i re-installed Firefox and asked it to sync, ALL is blank, no apps, no bookmarks, no setups. I did not do a backup or export as not need in past.

Even though I did log-in and try a sync, It is like I have a brand new, blank setup.

Any ideas?

In quite an extensive search I can only find two pieces regarding my concern about firefox syncing (for a bit of simplicity I will also assume in this inquiry I am only talking about bookmarks). Could the experts out there kindly put some meat on my bones of uncertainty?

I can understand a perfect synchronization can take place if all devices are kept turned on all the time. That would mean real time (virtually) simultaneous syncing. For example, a deletion (of a bookmark) on one device would delete on the others and an addition on one would add that same bookmark to the other devices. If I have got that wrong then please correct me there. If I have got that correct then what happens when one or all devices are switched off and then at staggered times in the future switched on when changes may have been made to the bookmarks in different ways at different times on those different devices. From this answer given below I get the sensation that there is some kind of aggregation going on but it certainly is not clear to me. Everything else will merge and all three will continue to be merged. What does this mean, if you delete on one, it will delete/resolve on another when it syncs if you have bookmarks selected to sync. Senario answer: The second pc will merge with the 1st and the first will be a mix of both.” In practical terms it is very inconvenient to have old deleted bookmarks be re-added to a device when wanting to say goodbye to that bookmark forever. Is there a way to retain what would be a master set of bookmarks on one device and update later those only on what are deemed secondary devices. I realize you can switch off the synchronization and you can also keep a profile copy or a full copy file of bookmarks and start the whole thing again by deleting the sync account and starting afresh. But my problem is that I continually forget to turn off the syncing on a device when I close down and then bingo before I know where I am an old deleted bookmark reappears by automatic syncing from another device because that bookmark is retained in the cloud. Or am I missing something obvious?

I have synced 2 computers in order to get my bookmarks from one to the other, how do I now unsync without losing my bookmarks?! there is an anawer on help but it is 4 years old and the paths and steps are no longer relevent to new editions. I am giving away the synced laptop and want bookmarks removed

I have turned sync on last night and then had to reinstall Windows (and therefore Foxfire) today. It isn't giving me back my bookmarks and passwords.

Also, I am logged in with my email on the sync but had to create a different account on the website. So what is my user name? Are the two accounts connected????

How do i reset all the data on my devices? For example i have 3 devices i want to reset the data on 2 of them and after replace the data on does and on the sync server with the data of the 3rd device.
