New synced tabs setup

There used to be an option when using synced tabs to long press and get an option to open a synced tab in the background.

That was really convenient if I wanted to read a bunch of synced tabs from my computer on my iPhone. Just go to the list of synced tabs and keep opening the synced tabs in the background.

The new system does not have that option. It just offers to open the synced tab in a new tab and then takes you there, closing the synced tab list. If you want to open more than one tab at a time you have to keep reopening the synced list.

Is there a workaround or setting to reduce the number of clicks and time it takes for those of us who frequently use synced tabs?
