Something malicious has rendered Firefox inoperable, so I want to reinstall an older version so I can keep NoScript, etc. Please!
Firefox won't load at all. The file folders appear complete, but can't be sure. I have been unsuccessful trying to revert to an older version. I use W7. Everything seems to be all right.
This is a political attack, because I have had a lot of attacks for years, ALL of which strike my e-mail and political sites I go to - nothing else is touched. This is much more serious. I'm now using Chrome, which is very vulnerable.
However, this time, something hit Firefox. I can't load it. An antivirus, ClamWin, has the same problem. There may be others. This just happened today. MalwareBytes found nothing.
I know I could probably uninstall and reinstall, but I'd lose gobs of stuff that way.
What I want to do is repair the damage done to Firefox, so I can keep bookmarks, NoScript settings, etc.
Please help.

Provided that you don't run any third party installer, you should be able to safely uninstall Firefox and install it again without losing any personal data. Alternatively, you can simply run the latest Firefox installer again and it will install over the existing version, while preserving your Firefox data. You should try this.
Are you receiving any error messages or is Firefox just not opening?
Note: If you are worried about losing your data during the installation process, you should backup your Firefox profile so that it can be restored later if something goes wrong.
