I am asking about this problem again because I have not yet been able to deal with it and it is getting worse.

Sorry about the long message but I neded to explain everything I have tried.

Firefox is preventing me from going to web sites I have safely gone to before and I had no problems with those sites. On one of them, Firefox keeps telling me that the site I am going to is insecure (I clicked on the "i" icon to check it out). The problem there is that I have been to that site many times before until a week or so ago when Firefox suddenly stopped letting me go there.

Another problem involves Firefox telling me (through the "i" icon) that another site is secure but it won't let me go there anyway.

I have tried turning off my anti-virus (Webroot) but that made no difference. I have tried white listing sites in options/security. Made no difference. I have scanned my computer with 6 different anti-virus apps. They didn't find anything. I have uninstalled and re-installed Firefox. Made no difference. I have deleted all my cookies/cache. Made no difference. I think I tried a couple other things but I can't remember right now.

There have been problems with other sites but these 2 illustrate the main problem.

Here is the main error message I keep getting:

Secure Connection Failed

The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.

The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified.

Please contact the website owners to inform them of this problem.

After refreshing Firefox I get the following error message:

Your connection is not secure

The owner of support.mozilla.org has configured their website improperly. To protect your information from being stolen, Firefox has not connected to this website.

When I click on the "Learn More" link Firefox keeps taking me back to the second error message.

I do not use Avast, AVG, BitDefender, Bullguard, ESET, Kaspersky, Microsoft Family Safety. I use Webroot.

I had to use another browser to ask about this problem because after refreshing it, Firefox now keeps telling me that Firefox sites are not secure and won't let me go there.

I want to keep using Firefox but if it keeps preventing me from going to my web sites, I will have no choice but to go to another browser.

Win 10; Firefox 47

I couldn't send troubleshooting info because I had to use another browser.

I really, really need some help.

TIA, kk

hello, first please make sure that the date, time & timezone are set correctly on your system. if this doesn't solve the issue (or it is already set properly), a solution depends on the individual circumstances:

  • what is the error code shown when you click on advanced on that error page?
  • please also give us more information about the error by clicking on the error code, copying the text to the clipboard and then pasting it here into a reply in the forum.

thank you!

Thank you.

Another long message. I apologize for that.

Sorry. Checking the date and time settings was one of the things I tried that I forgot to mention. They are set correctly.

There is no "Advanced" link for me to click on.

Here's the error message:

    "Secure Connection Failed
The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.

Sometimes that error message includes the url of the page I am trying to go to.

Right now when I click on "Learn More" all I get is the same error message as above. This error message for almost every page I go to started happening after I refreshed Firefox 47. I'm going to see if there is a way to "unrefresh" Firefox.

I'm going to contact Microsoft in case there's something in Win 10 I should check. I will do the same for Webroot (my anti-virus).

I'm going to use some other browsers and maybe something there will help.

I have to admit, I am getting tired of trying to deal with this issue. I have spent hours over the past few days attempting to deal with it.

I'm sure (fairly sure anyway) that I did something wrong somewhere but I have no idea where.

TIA, kk
