Where is it?
I don't see the menu button
Press the Alt or F10 key to bring up the tool bar. Then Help > About Firefox will tell you what version have and check for updates.
Firefox 11 would have the orange Firefox menu button visible when the menu bar is hidden.
You can find the full version of the current Firefox release (47.0) in all languages and all operating systems here:
It is probably best to create a new profile with such a large version jump to avoid issues with converting files to newer formats, so make sure not to start Firefox after the installation has finished, but use the Profile Manager to create a new profile.
You can export the bookmarks to an HTML file and import this file in the Bookmarks Manager (Library) in Firefox 47 because the places.sqlite database and JSON backups might not be compatible.
You can copy files like these to the current Firefox profile folder to recover specific data.
- bookmark backups: JSON backups in the bookmarkbackups folder
- persdict.dat for words you added to the spelling checker dictionary
- signons.sqlite and key3.db (decryption key) for Passwords saved in the Password Manager
- http://kb.mozillazine.org/Transferring_data_to_a_new_profile_-_Firefox
You can force Firefox to reimport the passwords from the signons.sqlite file and rebuild the logins.json file with these steps:
- reset the signon.importedFromSqlite pref on the about:config page to the default value via the right-click context menu
- delete the logins.json file in the Firefox profile folder with Firefox closed
When you restart Firefox then you should have the signon.importedFromSqlite pref with the value set to true.
You can use this button to go to the Firefox 47 profile folder:
- Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory:
Windows: Show Folder; Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder - http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox
