When I send mails I get the errormessage (in dutch) that there is not enough diskspace. The copy of my mail can't be stored in SENT-folder.

When I send mails with TB 38.3.0 (Win 8 sp1) I get the errormessage (freely translated from dutch): There is not enough diskspace to download new messages. Remove old mails, empty the trash-folder, compact your e-mail-folders and try it again. When I click OK, then the following errormessage appears: Cant't store the mail in the sent-folder. The mail is actually sent after the errormessages, there is only no copy in the sent-folder. When I get new mails from the mail-server afterwards there is no problem at all (no complains about the diskspace). I compacted all folders with the help of the function: file|compact folders and I deleted all trash-folders, but nothing seems to help. Is this a known problem and does anybody know a solution? Best regards, Gerd

So the error message is generated by Thunderbird. Did you follow any of the suggestions? What is the size of your Sent folder? Are you compacting folders on a regular basis?

The size of the sent-folder is about 400kB. I'm not compacting the folders on a regular basis. I startet to do that, after the error-messages on my laptop (Win8.1 sp1). The same (copy) mail-database on my PC with Win7 has no problem at all. The total size of all mails is about 1,5 GB.

That should not be a problem at all.

I'm not compacting the folders on a regular basis.

It's recommended to let Thunderbird do that automatically. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Compacting_folders

From the error message it sounds like your Sent mail file and/or the corresponding index file got corrupted.

First of all, create a full backup of your Thunderbird profile. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Thunderbird_:_FAQs_:_Backing_Up_and_Restoring

Then try to rebuild the index file of the Sent folder. Right-click the folder - Properties - Repair Folder

Note: depending on the corruption this may erase messages from the affected folder which cannot be recovered anymore. In that case you'd need to restore them from the backup, assuming the messages were still there at the time the backup was done.

Corruption is often caused by anti-virus software messing with Thunderbird mail files. It is therefore recommended to create an exception for the Thunderbird profile folder, so that the real-time scanner won't attempt to scan the profile with your mail.

For more information on the profile location see http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Thunderbird
