When I check the data file used by the plugincheck site, it shows this version numbering:

Does that match what shows on your Add-ons page, or is the extra 0. missing? Either:

• Ctrl+Shift+a > Plugins category
• orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons > Plugins category

Yes. My mistake. I meant 12.1.0.150. That is the current version I have installed. Sorry about that. Not sure if this is an issue with the site or what. Thanks for your reply by the way.

Also I noticed when using it in Chrome it also says Shockwave for Director is outdated. Not sure if this helps at all.

Currently, the plugin check site uses JavaScript to get a list of your active plugins. It then requests information about each of these plugins from the Mozilla plugins site in the background. In return, the script either gets a data file with the latest version (and some older versions) listed, or if the plugin is unknown, a mostly blank file. Then the script fills in the page with the results.

Anyway, I'm not sure what the problem is. (I can't install that plugin at the moment.)

Thank you for the input. The only thing I can find anyone talking about is JRE. Which, from what I understand Oracle released version 8 which is what the website is apparently looking for. No biggie there. I haven't downloaded 8 yet as the only versions I can find of it are early releases and not a standard stable. As for shockwave, if you install shockwave for director at some point feel free to share your results. Perhaps it's just my problem.

By the way, what version of Firefox are you running?

To avoid confusion: the Shockwave Flash plugin is a different plugin that the Shockwave for Director plugin

The latter is hardly used these days and only some gaming websites may still be using it, so there is usually no need to have the Shockwave for Director plugin installed or enabled.

@cor-el And where I understand where you're coming from, there are a few educational websites that do use shockwave. It's not a huge deal to me, I just like to know when plugins are tagged as "outdated" and "vulnerable" to why and how I can go about updating to fix or when a fix is available.

And I have been talking about Shockwave for Director not Flash. I know the difference.

I wrote that just to be sure as there are threads about the Shockwave for Director plugin every now and then.

It is OK if you visit websites that use the SWD plugin.
I'm on Linux and there isn't a SWD plugin for the Linux platform, so I can't check for issues with this plugin.

In case you have an older DLL installed side-by-side, could you check about:plugins (type or paste about:plugins in the address bar and press Enter). The "normal" location is C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Adobe\Director\ but sometimes a DLL will get dropped into Firefox's program folder.
