i had the settinfg enabled for leave messages on server untill i delete,thunderbird downloaded all my yahoo mail onto my pc and deleted all mail form server

i just downloaded thunderbird and i think that was the worst mistake i ever did , i have used thunderbird before but I didnt expect this at all . It downloaded all my yahoo mail on to my pc and deleted all mail from server I made it sure to enable setting to leave all mail on server untill i delete it but still it deleted everything . its a nightmare .I had very important mail that i deed to access everywhere infact i had all my emails eversince i created this id and now there is nothing

Well now you understand the reason Thunderbird defaults to IMAP mail accounts, instead of POP accounts.

So create an IMAP mail account for Yahoo in Thunderbird (they are the default settings). Drag your mail from the POP account your created to the relevant IMAP folder and wait for the mail to sync back to the server.
