Cannot re-install on Windows 7. Have tried all suggestions I've seen.
I uninstalled FF from my Windows 7 machine because I thought it might have been affected by malware. I've purged the malware from the system and went to re-install FF. The installation goes fine but when the program starts to launch I get the dreaded message "Your Firefox profile cannot be loaded. It may be missing or inaccessible."
I've searched the whole drive as thoroughly as I can but I just can't find it. I've removed everything with the name Firefox in it that I could find and then rebooted. As far as I can tell there's nothing left belonging to Firefox. I've rebooted into Safe Mode With Networking, downloaded a fresh copy and tried to install it. The same thing happens.
I have no idea what to try next. I would appreciate any insight anyone might have. Thanks.

This is usually caused by a problem with the profiles.ini file and the profile marked as Default=1 is no longer present on the hard drive.
- Windows: "%AppData%\Mozilla\Firefox\"
- Linux: ~/.mozilla/firefox/
- Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/Firefox/
- Delete the profiles.ini file to force Firefox to create a new default profile
- Use the Profile Manager to create a new profile
- Use "Choose Folder" to recover an existing profile if there is still one present
